Sunday 18th March Friendly v Lamlash
We got a dry but bitterly cold morning for the last of the winter friendlies played at Lamlash. Lamlash won the match by 3 games to 1 leaving the series tied at 1 win each. The trophy returns to Whiting Bay, retained by the holders, and Captain Wolfi can keep an eye on it for another year. In the individual Stableford, Serge from Lamlash came in the winner on the day with a fine 37 while Dan Bremner scooped the Auld Cronies trophy for the best points total over two rounds. Whiting Bay managed to dominate the ‘magic twos’ with John Pennycott and Jamie Macpherson on the 16th and David Brookens on the 13th.
Thanks to Lamlash for the clubhouse hospitality - never was good hot soup more welcome - and for the condition of the course. The greens were quite exceptional by any standard, especially so at this time of year.
